Choosing LVT for underfloor heating
LVT vs carpet: choosing the right floor for each room
LVT is one of the best choices for underfloor heating because it is thermally conductive — heat passes through it far more efficiently than through thick engineered wood or carpet.
If laying LVT over UFH, glue-down installation is strongly preferred over click systems. This eliminates any air gap between the tile and the heat source, significantly improving heating efficiency.
Always commission your UFH system and run it at operating temperature for at least two weeks before fitting. Then reduce to 18°C for 48 hours before installation begins. During normal use, never exceed 27°C at the floor surface.
Both Textures LVT and Elements Inspirations are fully compatible with underfloor heating installations.
Avon Valley Flooring installs both LVT and carpet, and the right choice depends on the room, the lifestyle and the look you are going for.
LVT — particularly from Textures or Elements Inspirations — is ideal for kitchens, hallways, bathrooms and open-plan spaces where durability, waterproofing and ease of cleaning are priorities. The realistic EIR surface of both ranges gives you the warmth of wood without the maintenance concerns.
Carpet is still the premier choice for bedrooms and living rooms where softness, warmth and acoustic comfort matter most. Wool carpets especially offer a luxury underfoot feeling that hard flooring cannot replicate.

What's happening across the UK flooring industry
The Flooring Show, Harrogate
Warm palettes dominate as the industry moves on from grey
Reporting from The Flooring Show in Harrogate — one of the most significant events in the UK flooring calendar — industry observers noted a clear and decisive shift in colour direction. Beige, earthy shades, burnt orange and rich verdant greens are taking centre stage across carpet and LVT manufacturers alike.
Burmatex / Airea
Airea returns to profit with sales growth and new facility investment
Airea, the group behind the Burmatex commercial carpet brand, reported improved margins and modest sales growth in the year to December 2025, alongside continued investment in a new UK manufacturing facility.
Sustainable Flooring
Vinyl flooring's green revolution continues into 2026
The UK LVT market is seeing a significant push toward recycled cores, lower VOC products and practical take-back programmes. Phthalate restrictions under EU REACH regulations are driving manufacturers toward cleaner plasticisers across the board.
UK Market
Matte finishes confirmed as the dominant surface trend for 2026
High-gloss floors are firmly giving way to matte and ultra-matte finishes across all hard flooring categories. Textured finishes — particularly in LVT — are now more realistic than ever, closely mimicking real wood grain while remaining durable and very low maintenance.
